Youngsters from around the world will gather in Munich’s Olympic Park this summer to witness the best extreme sports athletes on the planet do battle at the X Games Munich. The event in Germany marks the European debut of the Summer X Games, which are set to take over the whole of the Olympic Park from 27 to 30 April. Competitions will be held not only in indoor arenas and the main Olympic Stadium but also directly on the surface of the Olympic Lake and up on the Olympic Mountain! Visitors to the X Games Munich can look forward to breathtaking tricks, sick beats and the best skate, BMX, motocross and MTB athletes going head-to-head in Munich’s Olympic Park.
Advance booking is available for individual competitions (two price categories) and day tickets. The individual competitions are: Skateboard, BMX and MTB Slopestyle (from €14) as well as Motocross and Enduro (from €25). Top-category tickets (not VIP) are priced at €29 / €49 per competition. Tickets can be purchased from the X Games Ticket Shop or via München Ticket GmbH.
X Games
The X Games is set to take over the entire Olympic Park for the duration of the event. Competitions will be held in the Olympic Ice Stadium (Skateboard Park, Skateboard Street and BMX Park) the Olympic Stadium (Freestyle Moto X and Enduro X), the Olympic Hall (FMX Best Whip, Step Up and Speed & Style) and on the Olympic Mountain (X Games world premiere of MTB Slopestyle). As one of only three Diamond Events on the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour 2013, MTB Slopestyle is expected to attract the best riders in the world. The X Games Munich come to a spectacular close with the Skateboard Vert Competition and the Skateboard & GoPro BMX Big Air on the world’s first ever floating Mega Ramp in the middle of the Olympic Lake.
Created by the American television channel ESPN, the X Games were first held in 1995 and have continued to set new standards in the field of action sports ever since. Today, the X Games are the biggest and most significant action sports event on the planet, with athletes from all four corners of the globe coming together once a year to re-define what is possible and push the laws of physics to the extreme. Each summer over 200 international athletes from the fields of skateboard, BMX and moto X come together to face off at the Summer X Games.
Alongside the sporting competitions themselves, visitors can look forward to an eclectic mix of international music acts as well as plenty of traditional Bavarian art, culture and cuisine as part of the Cultural Elements programme. The local landscape will also be incorporated into many of the competitions, including the X Games world premiere of MTB Slopestyle on the Olympic Mountain.
X Fest
The X Fest Munich is the action sports festival at the heart of the X Games. It will take place in the centre of the Olympic Park, between Coubertinplatz and Luz-Long-Ufer, and is open to the public.
Combining interactive zones, music stages, films, culture and information, this “mixed area” will become the hotspot for the local action sports scene.
On top of that, the festival will give action sports brands the chance to showcase their products to a large audience. Featuring everything from signing sessions, live music and DJs to a fashion show, competitions and a BMX and skate course open to everyone, the X Fest is set to rock the X Games Munich.
The wide range of top-class entertainment on offer means that visitors to Munich’s Olympic Park will be able to experience the unique X Games lifestyle throughout the day.
